Who is Miss Horvath?
I am so excited to be starting my 9th* year at Buena Vista - my how the time goes by FAST! This is the start of 7th year as a 5th grade teacher. I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else at this point in my life other than teaching. The longer I teach, the more I'm reminded that I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. I love my job and I love my kids even more.
*I started my teaching career at Buena Vista when I student taught during my final semester in the Fall of 2005. I graduated from Clemson University in December of 2005 with a BA in Elementary Education. I also recently earned my Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have discovered over the years that I love to integrate technology into the classroom and use my students as guinea pigs to test new programs, products, and projects. I love to share the things I've learned in graduate school with my students!
In my spare time, you can most likely find me at the gym. I love to workout, run 5k's, and stay active with my friends and family. I also like to read, discover new music, explore interesting art and design, and travel. I would love to travel back to Australia some day, where I studied abroad for 6 months in college. My hope is to travel to all 7 continents in my lifetime - I better start saving my pennies now! :)
I am an only child, but I have three wonderful half siblings, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins. My family is very important to me, as you will soon find out as you get to know me. I am very close to my mom and dad and hopefully you will see a lot of them in and out of my classroom this year.
That's me in a nutshell. I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you this school year. I am thrilled to be your teacher and will work hard all year long to make sure this is the best school year for you!
